Move-in checklist

Notice of removal and changes of address

  • Submit the electronic notice of removal to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, local registry office and post office.
  • Notification of change of address – Post office
  • Submit the notification of change of address no earlier than one month before and no later than one week after your moving day. If you submit the notice before moving, your information will be updated in the population information system and the post office’s register in good time.
  • You can also submit a paper notification of change of address. You can get the form from the post office. The paper form is not available to fill in electronically or print out. Take the completed form to the service point of the post office or the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. When sharing your information with the post office, you are required to verify your identity.

Electricity agreement

  • Get an electricity contract with the electricity provider of your choice.

Home insurance

  • Shop around or transfer your home insurance policy. Make sure that the insurance policy is valid in both apartments during the move. The insurance policy taken out by KOY Kalajoen Vuokra-asunnot does not cover tenants’ personal property.
  • We recommend taking out a legal expenses insurance and third party insurance policy.

Move-in inspection

  • Inspect the apartment upon your arrival. Sign and return the form to the office of Kalajoen Vuokra-asunnot within a week of moving, even if you have no complaints.

New family members?

  • If a new family member or another person moves in or out of the apartment after the signing of the lease, you must always notify the landlord of this in writing.

Dishwasher and washing machine

  • The tenant is responsible for the installation of a dishwasher or washing machine, if they wish to have either. Please note that the installation may only be carried out by an authorised installer. Call the property management’s service number +358 (0)400 563 164 to book in the installation. A drip tray must always be placed under a dishwasher.
  • The tenant will be charged for the installation of the dishwasher and washing machine.

Alteration work

  • The tenant shall be responsible for any personal accessories or other changes made to improve their quality of living. If you would like to have any alteration work carried out, e.g. installing a peephole, Venetian blinds or fixed furniture, request the property manager’s permission in advance.
  • Fixed installations will remain in the apartment when you move out and you will not be compensated for them. The cost of fixing the damage caused by unauthorised alteration work will be charged to the tenant or deducted from the security deposit.

Keys

  • If you need additional keys to your apartment, contact the office of Kalajoen Vuokra-asunnot. Take good care of your keys. If you lose a key, the locks must be rekeyed at your expense. Charged to the tenant based on the actual costs.
